Psychosocial Dialogues: Film, Theory, and Practice
Friday – Saturday, May 30 – 31, 2014 Sherrill Library Rm. 350, Brattle Campus, Lesley University (89 Brattle Street, Cambridge, MA)
As part of the emerging field of Psychosocial Studies that challenges the disciplinary division between psychology and the social, this conference extends the crossing of disciplinary boundaries through dialogues among filmmakers, theorists and social activists. Two keynote addresses by noted theorists, whose work exemplifies the goals of Psychosocial Studies, and the screening of three films, will provide an immediacy to the discussion of theory and practice. CEUs for Psychologists, Social Workers, and LMHC licenses are available.
Friday May 30 ~ 4 – 7pm
- Welcome Address: Lynne Layton, Ph.D. and David Goodman, Ph.D.
- Keynote: M. Brinton Lykes, Ph.D., Professor of Community-Cultural Psychology at Boston College, Associate Director of the Center for Human Rights and International Justice.
- Film: Mind Zone: Therapists Behind the Front Lines – Director: Jan Haaken (in attendance)
- Panel discussion with the director and Stephen Soldz, Ph.D., psychoanalyst, public health researcher, and faculty of the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis
